colby martin

when cal and i were deciding to “let in” our friends and family to our relationship, we knew we wouldn’t be met with all rainbows and butterflies.

we knew we were heavily involved in the church and had many relationships with other Christians.

so, we searched for material that would help explain what we were feeling, experiencing, and questioning.

we were not blind to the many bible verses that are used to condemn same-sex relationships.

we were both raised in the church and had deep understandings of faith, Jesus, God, and religion.

trust me, we had read all the verses that are used.

the problem was, what we were reading and what we knew about Jesus (and each other) didn’t align.

that’s when we were introduced to Colby Martin’s “UnClobber: Rethinking Our Misuse of the Bible on Homosexuality”

a breath.

then, our dearest friend, mentor, and soul sister, Alice Shirey befriended Colby and invited him to town to speak with all who are willing to listen.

he will be at Lang Hall on UNI’s campus this Sunday (the 7th) at 6:30pm, to share his experience, answer questions, and provide a space for anyone to learn

cal and i will be there, as his research and explanation of these verses brought so much clarity and freedom to us

ALL are welcome. it’s free 🌈
